But as I check my Bible, that is not what happened. After all the unbelievably cruel ordeal Satan put him through, when God presented Himself face to face before Job, this was his response:
FIRST: Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth. (40:4)
and then,
SECONDLY: I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee…. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes. (42:2,6)
Here are a few lessons:
- Satan cannot know the true resolve of a redeemed heart.
- He does not understand God’s love.
- He is the fountain head of disrespect.
- He is such a liar that he can even deceive himself.
